WK 2026 stadions

De WK 2026 stadions bestaan uit 16 voetbalstadions in Canada, de Verenigde Staten en Mexico. De capaciteit van de stadions is gemiddeld meer dan 68.000.

Alle WK-stadions bestaan reeds en zijn volledig operationeel. Dit betekent dat United 2026 geen enkel nieuwe voetbalstadion hoeft te bouwen. De stadions zijn bestaande gebouwen en klaar voor gebruik.

Na afloop van het voetbaltoernooi worden alle voetbalstadions weer gebruikt door de lokale sportvereniging.

Allen behoren ze tot de meest geavanceerde sport en entertainment faciliteiten in de wereld. De gebouwen worden dagelijks gebruikt en wekelijks worden er sportevenementen georganiseerd. Er zijn exclusieve clubs, privé suites en premium ruimtes, uitstekend voor leiders en gasten van de FIFA.

Kunstgras in stadions WK 2026

De stadions van het WK 2026 voldoen allemaal aan de minimumvoorwaarden van de FIFA. Wel moet een aantal velden verbreed worden om er op te kunnen voetballen. In de VS worden de stadions namelijk gebruikt voor andere sporten. Een aantal zitplaatsten zal verwijderd moeten worden en ook ontstaan er zitplaatsten met beperkt zicht.

In de helft van de stadions ligt kunstgras, maar United 2026 zal deze kunstgrasvelden voor het Wereld Kampioenschap voetbal allemaal vervangen door natuurgras.

Er zijn 23 stadions voor het WK 2026 voorgesteld door de VS, Canada en Mexico. De stadions zijn verspreid over de 3 landen en hebben een gezamenlijke capaciteit van 1,66 miljoen zitplaatsten.

Uiteindelijk zullen 16 stadions verkozen worden tot gastheer voor het Wereld Kampioenschap.

7 stadions zijn afgevallen uit de 23 voorgestelde voetbalstadions voor het WK 2026. De afgevallen stadions zijn:

• Washington DC (FedEx Field): 70.659

2 van de 23 voorgestelde stadions (Cincinnati en Montreal) zouden gerenoveerd moeten worden in de komende jaren, voor een investering van $335,5 miljoen voor beide gebouwen.

Het voorgestelde aantal stadions overschrijdt de minimumvoorwaarden van de FIFA.
